Gul have been sponsoring UK Pro Surf Tour events for the last six years. Initially the Newquay Open, now for the second time the St Ives event. This is the only Professional Surfing Event in this part of Cornwall and is put on to support the development of competitive surfing in the region. Giving the opportunity for the local surfers to compete at the highest level.
Porthmeor Beach is large wide sand beach on the Western side of St Ives. There are facilities close to the beach including the St Ives Tate Gallery.
